Barn Door World Map!

Ive been busy with so many projects, some big, some small! Soon will be posting pictures of what Ive been up to! I wanted to share today's project I took on!

 Ive been wanting to do this for a long time but was intimidated by it, as well as having a hard time finding the time when Easton isnt running around! This weekend we cleaned out our garage and We had 3 old barn doors in there! I knew one of them I wanted to use as a headboard for our bed.. but wasnt sure what I was going to do with the others... Looking at my Pinterest boards, I showed Eric the idea and how I have been wanting to attempt this , but nervous about it actually turning out.. he LOVED it and was WAY more excited about it than I thought he would be.. and I also  realized one of these doors was the perfect size for painting my map on it! With Eric's enthusiasm and me finding the doors, I decided to take on the challenge!

I started by sanding down the door and staining it. Let that dry and then painted two days later (today)

I am actually very happy with it and Excited to get it hung! I will post a picture once we get that done !!

Josie's Ruffled Crib Skirt

Finding baby bedding that isn't "babyish" like butterflies or teddy bears or cartoon looking is really hard. Especially when you have a specific color or theme in mind . It seemed I could only find custom made baby bedding that was RIDICULOUSLY expensive ! So I ventured out in finding my own fabric and reading tutorials on how to make some of it! 

I wanted a ruffled crib skirt . I decided I would make it myself. I've had the fabric for a while now, but it's just been sitting the the bag from JoAnn's since I got it! I was nervous about the "ruffle" part because that was something I've never done... 

Realizing I am nearing the end of my pregnancy and I still have a lot to do in her room... I decided to get started!! 

Here is what I've done so far ... 

Still have the other two short sides.i am going to leave the back side plain since it will be against the wall and no one will see it! Same time and fabric! ;) 

Completion!

I finished all the burp cloths I had been working on that were cut out and ready to sew! 

There ended up being about 43 of them! I have sets put together but I am also selling individual ones of you would like a particular one or just want to make your own "set"

Banana Streusel Muffins

 Made some Banana Streusel Muffins and before I even let them cool completely Easton and I devoured 3 of them! So delish! Here are a few pictures of the ones I made and then the Recipe! 

 

 

Banana Streusel Muffins

Ingredients:

Muffins:

• 2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 3/4 cups brown sugar
• 2 eggs, beaten
• 4 ripe bananas

Streusel:

• 5 tablespoons butter, melted
• 2/3 cup flour
• 2/3 cup powdered sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
• pinch of salt (optional)

Directions:

Muffins:

1. Preheat oven to 350⁰ F and lightly grease your muffin tin/baking cups with cooking spray.Muffins:
2. Whip up bananas using the paddle attachment on your mixer for 3 – 5 minutes or until light and fluffy. It should end up being about 2 1/2 cups of banana fluff. Transfer to another bowl and set aside.
3. Cream together the butter and brown sugar in the bowl of the mixer (there is no need to wash off the paddle or bowl from the bananas). Add eggs one at a time and then incorporate the whipped bananas until well blended. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredientsto the wet. Spoon batter into prepared cups.

Streusel:

1. Melt butter in the bottom of a medium microwave-safe bowl. Add the dry ingredients on top. IMPORTANT: Incorporate the dry ingredients with your FINGERS until the mixture is moist and crumbly. If you try to use a spoon it will congeal into one huge ball of goo.
2. Drop the crumb topping onto the muffins and bake.

6 jumbo muffins: 20 – 25 minutes
12 standard muffins: 15 – 18 minutes

(Mine ended up making 18 pretty big sized muffins and cooked for 18 min ) 

Car Seat Canopy

Car Seat Canopy!!! 

I had one of these with Easton, which I loved! BUT the ones I had to choose from I wasn't really fond of the fabric choices. I decided to try and make one myself! Love it! Learned a few lessons that I will do differently the next time around but all in all , I love the way it turned out and it was something fun to make! 

These are so great to have for many different reasons , but my three favorites ... 

1) They block out wind and keep your baby warm when it's cold . 

2)They are not "waterproof" but they keep the rain from splashing on your baby as your walking into a store or house or wherever ! 

3) Blocks out the sun or the light if your baby fell asleep in the car seat and you're out !

Burp Cloth Nesting!

Maybe I'm...what they call "Nesting", maybe I'm just crazy. I get in these moods where my creative instincts are itching and I go all "GungHo" on whatever creative outlet I have decided. These so called "outlets" can range from sewing, scrap booking, painting, making signs, redoing furniture... whatever it is! This time .. Its sewing.

I decided to make a few burp cloths for a friend who was coming home with her baby, and for my baby Josie , who is a couple months away from joining us! I went to the store to get  fabric and might have went a little crazy.. but hey! It was on sale! :] I got lots a different fabric with the idea I could have a stash and make them for other friends who were having babies!

I made 7 the first round! 4 for my friend, and 3 for me! I ended up cutting fabric for 27 by the end of the night!  I enjoyed making them and am absolutely in love with how they turned out! Much nicer than a lot of them that you can find at the stores! Very much a boutique style, which probably means too nice and too cute for something that is just going to be spit up on or wipe dirty faces with! ;]

I have been wanting to start up an Etsy shop for a while but not quite sure what all I wanted to try and sell, having so many different ideas and hobbies! The idea comes and goes a lot, but I've decided I want to try and make this real...starting with the burp cloths! I will be selling other items I create and hopefully this will bring in some extra "fun money!"

I've been sewing away and starting to make things for my store, like creating a Tag to put on my items, creating a business name, talking numbers,  starting this blog, and researching ideas to further my business! I came up with the name JosieJo Creations - Inspired.Created.Loved since I will be naming my daughter Josie and I started this business with her in mind! Inspired by my creativity, Created, and then loving the finished product! 

Here are a few I made! Cotton fabric on one side, and grey Minky fabric on the other, which makes these incredibly soft and snugly!
